Who is JP?

I am Jeroen Péter (JP) Komáromi, a snowsports professional with over 15 years of experience in tourism and outdoor sports.

Born in the Netherlands with Hungarian roots, I grew up as a city kid near The Hague. Many childhood memories in the Alpes and an exchange year in Newfoundland, Canada sparked my lifelong passion for winter and mountain life. After studying tourism and traveling the world, I made Austria our home with my wife and kids.

As a state-certified snowsports instructor and guide in the winter and a professional trail shaper and MTB guide in the summer, I now spend my life in the mountains.  Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside respected names in the industry. This includes guiding and coaching for freeride and snowboard organizations like Epique and Blacksheepsnowboarding. Additionally, I train the next generation of instructors as an educator (Ausbilder) for the Vorarlberger Skilehrerverband.

To me, the outdoors is a pure and infinite place to create and grow, leaving you with timeless memories to cherish. Whether coaching on the slopes or carving out new trails, my goal is to help you experience the terrain to the fullest.

The kid who wanted to build rollercoasters

As a kid, I had two massive obsessions: extreme sports and rollercoasters. Not those tiny funfair ones, but those early 2000s, well-engineered, state-of-the-art, world-class, record-breaking types. In fact, I fully wanted to become a rollercoaster engineer.

While facing the fact I was failing the talent in physics in high-school, and getting more nauseous riding every record-breaking rollercoaster I could find, I ended up falling deeply in love with the mountains and outdoor sports along the way. But even after many, many turns in deep, fresh powder, that inner "rollercoaster nerd" never left me.

Today, I still look at these sports, and trail building in particular, through that exact same lens. To me, designing, building, and shaping a trail is like engineering a rollercoaster. It’s a  mix of physics, creativity, G-forces, fun elements, and airtime, all designed to be enjoyed with those who dare to ride it. Inspired by rollercoasters and freestyle sports, I look forward to working with bike parks, trail-building companies, and all types of nerds alike. Together, we can use these individual skills and experiences to shape those well-engineered, state-of-the-art, world-class, record-breaking rollercoasters out of dirt that flow perfectly—leaving you dying to get straight back to the top once the ride is over.

Bridging the Gap: From Dreams to Reality

"Riding should feel rewarding, not intimidating"

Being out in the mountains gives you a feeling of unlimited freedom. However, due to today’s hyper-polished social media, your skiing holiday and backcountry riding can feel overwhelming and unreachable. We see the final edit, but forget the hard work that gone into it.

The mountain shouldn't feel overwhelming. It should feel like your playground where you forget your day-to-day, lock in, and live in the moment. Whether you are stepping onto the snow for the first time, or you’ve been riding for years but feel stuck—progression doesn't require extreme risks. You don’t need to drop into a black run or the snowpark just to learn how to jump; we can unlock your first airtime on a mellow resort run.

The same goes for the backcountry. Many dream of high-risk, extreme freeride faces, when what we actually want is effortless, soft powder. Without the right terrain knowledge, you often end up in dangerous situations or riding bad, crusty snow.

That is where I come in. I navigate the mountain for you, finding the best snow and managing the risks based on your level. My goal is to be the bridge between your vision and reality. Together, we build your riding skills or backcountry knowledge, trust, and confidence step-by-step—turning those slopes and overwhelming peaks into a real sense of accomplishment and pure enjoyment.
